• Welcome to Tashkent Ulugbek International School (TUIS). Here you'll find the best education for your children who will set out for a challenging journey within the guidance of qualified academic staff so that they can learn to bridge the world in a friendly and caring atmosphere.
• TUIS was founded in 1995 to serve the international community in Tashkent and the surrounding area. It now houses over 245 students in grades Year 1 to Year 11 and Preparatory Class. Students are drawn from families working for both the international and local business communities, including the diplomatic corps and various multi-national government-funded organizations.
• The school is a joint venture between ‘ The SILM Corporation' and ‘ The Diplomatic Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan '.
• TUIS is well appointed with properly equipped classrooms, laboratories, gymnasium, computer suit, dining-room, outdoor play facilities, art room, music room and provides a safe environment for pupils as it is surrounded by a tall wrought iron fence with a single entrance.
• We, at the TUIS, have a totally secular policy and do not teach religion as our pupils come from many countries with different cultures and traditions. Our international staff consists of 25 teachers - the full range of primary and secondary school subjects.
• We are a regular member of the European Council of International Schools and can be found in the 2005 directory, and have been rigorously inspected and evaluated by ECIS.
• Until the age of fourteen, pupils follow the British National Curriculum. This has ten core subjects. Minor changes have been made to the curriculum to suit the circumstances of our pupils in Uzbekistan . For instance, we do not teach religion and we teach world history rather than British history as we consider it more appropriate.
• A preparatory class is available for pupils who need to improve English language skills before entering the subject mainstream.
• The Secondary school accepts children who have completed primary education; they then follow a course of study leading to GCSE examinations.
• With specific reference to Years 7 - 11, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Physics, PE, Music, Russian, World History, World Geography, English Literature, Art, Information Technology, English Language, Uzbek Geography, Uzbek History, Uzbek Language are the subjects studied.
• At TUIS, the total number of years in which education is pursued is eleven. This period of time spent in school is called primary and secondary education. After completing year eleven, students are ready to enter higher education or university.
• TUIS has quite a diverse student community; our students come from approximately 20 different countries and over 25 nationalities, thus bringing with them a spectrum of cultural enrichment to the campus. This diversity creates an intercultural awareness among the pupils and an exchange of ideas, as well as differing points of views, which lead each student to be an international student with a unique point of view who can understand people, and allow them to be themselves, while still being true to him/herself.
