General Information
During the first years of secondary level education, students' life-long attitudes to learning are often formed. It is a time of change and formation in many ways, and the curriculum at TUIS aims to accommodate, build on and guide those changes.
In a modern world which is information-driven and where change is rapid, it is essential that we equip our students with the skills necessary to adapt and continue learning even after they have left formal education. Our curriculum also aims to produce students who are life-long learners.
The TUIS Secondary School accepts children who have completed their primary education and are over eleven years of age. At this level, pupils study Stage 3 and 4 of the National Curriculum of the UK . This course of study leads to GCSE examinations. Pupils from our primary school can enter the secondary school. Others can enter by an examination and interview which are organized by school administration
The secondary school comprises of two sections and has as guiding principals that:
• students develop a holistic attitude to knowledge; that they see the subjects they learn as an integrated whole,
• students' own cultural experiences and backgrounds, and those of our diverse teaching staff, are a valuable learning resource, and we encourage understanding through intercultural awareness,
• the ability to express ideas both reflects and deepens understanding, and students' communication skills are central to their learning.

The emphasis in the delivery of these subjects is on intellectual rigour, ensuring students have a firm foundation of concepts and knowledge in that area, on fostering students' responsibility for their own learning, and on encouraging them to see each area as a part of a broader, “global” picture.
Students demonstrate their achievement through a variety of different types of assessment, ranging from experimental investigations in science, essays and posters in the humanities, productions and presentations in the expressive arts or modular tests and examinations in mathematics.
At the end of grade 11, students graduate from the programme. They must satisfy our own internal graduation conditions, as well as those of the government. Our graduates receive an international diploma approved by the ECIS (The European Council of International Schools).
